Veteran’s Assistance Program (VAP)

For Their Service * Support * Sacrifice *

Since early 2014, LCRW has organized and provided an outreach for our Veterans at the hospital in Cheyenne, WY.  We first learned about this opportunity from one of our sister clubs in the Denver area and their connection with the Veteran’s hospital in the central part of Colorado.  We discovered that medical issues for these patients were taken care of, however we wanted to give something to those new patients to let them know how much we value their sacrifice.  Many of these Vets have no family members close by and are in the hospital for a very long time.

About every 3 months, LCRW hosts a “mug assembly” where we put together about 120+ coffee mugs filled with very specific items and a small American Flag to express our gratitude for their service and sacrifice and these mugs are given to the new patients.  Carolyn Schultz and I have visited with these Veterans and the appreciation in their voices and the smiles on their faces reinforce the importance of this project!

Over the years, we have worked closely with the hospital staff to determine what to provide in the mugs and as a result, financial donations allow us to purchase the specific items most needed by the patients and at the best price.

We realize there are many worthwhile organizations asking for money, but the reality is, to continue this project, we need your financial help!

If you would like to contribute (any amount) to this important outreach, please make checks payable to LCRW (include VAP in the memo!).  Mail to Sue Rehg, 3618 Manzanita Dr, Loveland, CO 80537.

We also have availability for donations at our LCRW monthly meetings.
